Modelling single-electron tunnelling circuits in VHDL-AMS
نویسنده
چکیده
Abstract The single-electron tunnelling (SET) devices might be scaled down almost to the molecular level. SET devices can be faster and consume less power than comparable devices implemented in CMOS or bipolar technologies. This work presents VHDL-AMS macro-modelling techniques for the compact simulation of single-electron circuits. The macromodel of the single electron transistor, which is much more efficient than the corresponding Monte-Carlo calculations, is developed and can be a reasonably accurate tool for the simulation of complicated single-electron circuits.

Behavioral Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Using VHDL-AMS
During the past few years, a lot of work has been done on behavioral models and simulation tools. But a need for modeling strategy still remains. The VHDL-AMS language supports the description of analog electronic circuits using Ordinary Differential Algebraic Equations (ODAEs), in addition to its support for describing discrete-event systems. For VHDL-AMS to be useful to the analog design ...
متن کاملA communications system modelling study using VHDLNHDL-AMS
This paper will describe aspects relating the modelling of a mixed-signal system with the aim to describe the system in a single language prior to any detailed implementation strategy. With reference to a communications system modelling case study, VHDL-AMS, an extension to the industry standard VHDL Hardware Description Language (HDL) for digital circuits and systems, will be used. Recently, t...
متن کاملSuperconducting Circuits Design Tool: Application to High Frequency Sigma Delta Adc
We present an application tool dedicated to superconducting circuits design. Based on the use of VHDL-AMS language on System Vision software, we developed an innovating approach with top-down methodology to specify the RSFQ circuits. We take the example of a sigma-delta bandpass ADC and show the different processes used to design it. The demonstration shows the complete system in mixed signal l...
متن کاملMacromodelling of differential drivers
The development of macromodels of differential drivers for the prediction of the analogue operation of very high-speed digital communication links is explored. The macromodels are mathematical relations hiding the information on the internal structure of devices; they are estimated from port device responses and can be easily implemented in any circuit or analogue mixed-signal simulator as SPIC...
متن کاملVHDL-AMS modeling of an automotive vibration isolation seating system
This paper presents VHDL-AMS model of an automotive vibration isolation seating system with an active electromechanical actuator. Five control algorithms for the actuator are implemented and their efficiencies are investigated by subjecting the system to a number of stimuli, such as a single jolt or noisy harmonic excitations. Simulations were carried out using the SystemVision simulator and re...
